At Embrace Wellness Consultancy, we offer telehealth telephone and video conferencing counselling appointments Australia wide.
Telehealth involves using digital technology including telephone and video conferencing to deliver counselling services to clients who are unable to access in person treatment due to health complications, restrictions of movement, location and transport issues.
The demand for telehealth services has significantly increased since 2020 and is considered to be a preferred option when an individual seeks a more convenient and accessible way to receive support.
Why choose telehealth?
Some reasons Australians are now choosing to attend counselling via telehealth include:
- Reduced travel time and costs
- Reduced wait times
- Accessible as physical location is no longer a barrier – if you are travelling around Australia, sessions can continue without disruption.
- Flexible, as you can attend a session on your lunch break or at a time that is convenient for you, if you are working from home or in a private office
- Comfort – you can engage in a counselling session in your own home or a place that is comfortable for you.
How to use Telehealth Services
Your psychologist from Embrace Wellness Consultancy will be using the secure, privacy compliant server coviu.com.au.
All communication that takes place in the session will not be stored on central servers. Each video session is fully encrypted with 256bit encryption (the same encryption used by internet banking platforms and cannot be listened into).
Sessions will be conducted in the same way in person appointments are. Standard consults will be 50 minutes. If the connection is broken for any reason, your psychologist will call you to remedy the situation. If transmission fails, your psychologist will resume the session via telephone until the internet connection has returned.
To use coviu, you will need a device with a supported browser (we recommend google chrome), an inbuilt camera or webcam and a microphone. You can run a device pre-call test to ensure everything works well, prior to your session.
Just prior to your appointment time you can use your computer, lap top or smart phone device to click on the link that will be sent to you via email.
Once you have joined as a guest you will be asked to take a photo of yourself so that your psychologist can identify you. You will also be asked to accept the terms and conditions for videoconferencing and then be placed in a waiting room.
